Summer Camp

Greenfields Academy summer camps offer fun hands-on activities and challenges which allow young heroes to grow their confidence, build teamwork skills, and enjoy learning.

A Story to Tell August 12-16, 2019 (ages 5-13)

"A Story to Tell" is an interdisciplinary workshop that engages participants in the art of storytelling.

Through the first couple of days of the course, we will learn about cross-cultural storytelling traditions, their functions, and develop skills to captivate an audience.

Participants will utilize illustration, storyboarding, and costume/prop making to express favorite memories and stories of identity. The last three days of the workshop will involve developing a story to perform on the final day.

Throughout this course, participants will exercise different modes of creative development, critical thinking, public speaking, and imagination to explore their past and culture and that of their peers.

Rx3 Art Camp August 19-23, 2019 (ages 5-13)

"Rx3 Art Camp" is an interactive workshop that exposes participants to an environmentally conscious way of making art

By utilizing a "Reuse, Reduce, Recycle" approach, participants will exercise self expression, creative problem solving, and critical thinking skills to engage with everyday objects, and repurpose them into works of art.

Activities will include jewelry making, mosaic, paper making, and functional/decorative sculpture. Participants will also learn about Chicago's recycling systems as well as local, contemporary artists whose work reflects a repurposing approach.
