Ring in the holiday season with Chef Keyonna and her kitchen crew. Explore delicious foods from different cultures, many with holiday themes. Learn knife skills, kitchen safety, and how to choose the right spices for each dish. Junior chefs will work in teams to prepare new recipes as they explore different holidays from around the world and open their minds and taste buds by trying new foods. This workshop has a limited availability of 15 Griffins, so don’t wait to join!

Tuesdays ($350) & Thursdays ($350) – Virtual STEM Lab:
Join STEM Guide Larry for fun, science-based learning in our new Virtual STEM Lab. The mission of STEM Lab is to provide students with fun, engaging and collaborative lessons that encourage them to connect with their inner geek and potentially pursue future studies in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Griffins will embark on a journey throughout the amazing world of Robotics and 3D Modeling. As part of our initial Lab setup, students can choose between several challenging project-based activities, including:

  • Lego WeDo 2.0: LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 makes elementary science come to life through hands-on tasks, real-world projects, and relevant technology that engages students. The unique combination of the LEGO brick, classroom-friendly software, and insp
iring, standards- based science projects results in a
    resource that builds students’ confidence.
  • Lego Mindstorms: LEGO® MINDSTORMS® gives you the power to create and command your own robotic LEGO creatures, vehicles, machines and inventions! By combining LEGO® elements with a programmable brick, motors and sensors, you can make your creations walk, talk, grab, think, shoot and do almost anything you can imagine!
  • Personal Robot Meccanoid G15KS: More than a toy, the Meccano Meccanoid G15KS Personal Robot uses the most advanced technology and will become your new best friend. Using over 1,100 pieces and 10 motors, you can construct a 4 foot tall real working, moving, talking robot full of personality, a sense of humor, capable of responding to instructions and mirroring movements.
  • 3D Model Design and Creation: Students will acquire a deeper understanding of math and science through the end-to-end 3D model creation process. We’ll use a mix of digital applications such as scanner apps, model editors, slicers and finally the 3D printer. These hands-on activities will naturally encourage the application of real-world math and science concepts.

Wednesdays ($350) – Creative Writers’ & Artists’ Club:

Calling all artists and writers! This workshop will focus on building students’ creativity through both writing and art. Students will explore different avenues of creative expression such as poetry, short stories, comics, illustrations or whatever sparks their imagination. Their amazing creations will fill the pages in the publication of the very first Griffin Magazine (actual name TBD by this club!)

Fridays ($325) – DIY Makers:

Bring your curiosity and creativity to the Greenfields maker space on Fridays as we come together to make crafts, decorations and creative inventions. Students will drive the curriculum as they decide what they want to explore and then make it themselves. They will be inventors and artists and learn to be resourceful!
